Spring Equinox 2021

Each year spring (in the northern hemisphere) is a time when life seems renewed and possibilities once again seem possible.

Here in Las Vegas, our grape hyacinth, freesia and narcissus have emerged from their winter slumber to bloom and bring color and vibrancy into our garden.

As George Harrison sang in Here Comes the Sun, “Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter. Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been clear. Here comes the sun, it’s alright!”

Here Comes the Sun

Today marks the Spring Equinox, as the Sun has completed its journey around the zodiac, left the sign of Pisces and entered Aries.  All of this ushering in the beginning of a new cycle.

The Sun entering Aries feels like a burst of energy and a new beginning.  As you see the flowers coming into bloom in your garden, you begin to observe the new shoots emerging in your life after what may have felt like a long, cold, lonely winter of hibernation.

If you find yourself saying, “Ahhh! I am ready to follow my bliss because anything is possible”, you are connecting with the change of seasons and the movement of the Sun, Moon and stars.

At those moments when you feel the stirring of your passions in your heart, allow that energy to permeate your entire being from head to toe.  Feel it!

Too often we allow the circumstances and events of life to crush the tiny shoots of our inspiration.  Feel it!  Play with it!  Follow your bliss!

You don’t have to know what the outcome of each and every inspiration is before you act on it.  In fact, you can’t know.  That is part of the magic.

Aries is the astrological sign that rules adventure.  So, follow your bliss, give it a try and see what shoots begin to rise in your life and which flowers come into full bloom.

Here Comes the Moon

While Beatle George is famous for Here Comes the Sun, during his solo career he also wrote Here Comes the Moon.  For this Spring Equinox the Moon plays a central role.

While the great light of the Sun is taking center stage now, the other great light of the Moon can help you to reflect upon how you feel about life and the new possibilities before you.

On this Spring Equinox, the Moon is joined by Mars and the North Node in Gemini and together they are sharing three themes that support the Sun’s arrival in Aires.

First, the Moon….

The Moon in Gemini invites you to talk about your feelings.

Sometimes you may be inspired, but have an inner sense of doubt that leads to hesitation, even when you know you have new potentials before you.

Have a conversation between your head and your heart, or your thoughts and your feelings.

Share your inspiration and your feelings with someone you love and trust.

The gift of Gemini is that conversation can lead to greater understanding and greater clarity.

Second, the North Node….

The North Node in Gemini reminds you that while you may have an inspiration, like the picture on the cover of the puzzle box, that we have to put the pieces together.

Return to your child-like nature and have fun playing with the pieces of your puzzle.  Play and put some energy toward arranging the pieces of your budding adventure into a larger context.

No pressure, just fun.

No pre-conceived notions, just play.

Third, Mars….

Mars in Gemini has two messages urging you to act on your own desires.

Mars reminds you that you can only “seize the day” if you take action.  Since it is just a day, you can’t over-think it or the opportunity passes you by.  So, seize the inspiration.

Mars knows that without taking action, nothing gets done.

While you are playing with your inspiration, don’t feel bad or angry if not everyone in your world is equally excited as you are.  Mars doesn’t care what others think about his inspiration, he just acts instinctually on what he wants.

This is your time to play.  So, have fun following your bliss, while allowing others to have their own interests.

Do what you want simply for the joy it brings you.

A New Cycle Begins

Last Spring, the chart of the Spring Equinox in 2020 contained Saturn, Pluto, Mars, Jupiter and the South Node of the Moon in Capricorn.  That was a heavy cast of characters in Capricorn.

The circumstances of the past year reflected that cast of characters and it has been a heavy time and a time of loss on so many levels. Don’t ignore how that makes you feel as the events and circumstances of 2020 remain present in the external world.

The good news is that the cast of characters in the sign of Capricorn has dwindled and only Pluto remains in Capricorn standing alone without the cast of characters surrounding him.

Start today and remember how it feels to play.

Let the seeds of your play scatter about the fertile ground of your life.

Remember that your life is still fertile ground for your dreams and inspiration.

As the warm light of Spring dances into your world, those seeds you scatter now will emerge and the puzzle pieces of your life will be seen in the larger context.

The Sun’s arrival in Aries is a time of renewal and re-birth.  As your inspiration starts sprouting buds, you might just find yourself humming, “Here comes the sun, it’s alright!”
